DESCRIPTION:Moin\, \n\n\n\nIn Kooperation mit der AES Student Section Hamburg und dem Referat Nachwuchs des VDT\, laden wir euch am 18. Oktober ab 16 Uhr zur Spatial Audio Listening Session (SALS) ein. Wir treffen uns in gemütlicher Atmosphäre im Immersive Audio Lab im 3. Stock des Neubaus der Finkenau 35\, um Spatial Audio-Stücke zu hören und uns bei einem Kaltgetränk locker darüber auszutauschen. \n\n\n\nÜber die mehr als 30 Lautsprecher des Immersive Audio Lab können zahlreiche Formate wiedergegeben werden\, von quadrophonischen Stücken über 5.1 Dolby Surround und Dolby Atmos bis hin zu Ambisonics 7th Order. \n\n\n\nDieses Mal beschäftigen wir uns mit psychoakustischen Effekten und hören diesbezüglich eine Auswahl von Stücken und tauschen uns darüber aus. \n\n\n\nDie Teilnahme ist nur mit Anmeldung unter dieser Mail möglich\, da wir nur 15 Plätze anbieten können. Es besteht im Anschluss die Möglichkeit\, sich in kleiner Runde weiter auszutauschen.

Modern generative methods have brought about new opportunities for solving well-studied audio generation problems\, such as text-to-speech synthesis\, while also leading to explorations of exciting new problems. The workshop seeks to bring together researchers working on different audio generation problems and facilitate concentrated discussions on the topic. SUMMARY:Research Colloquium #6: Perceptual Audio Coders – What To Listen For
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\n\nPerceptual audio coding is ubiquitous and perceptual audio codecs like MP3 and AAC are widely known. It has fundamentally revolutionized the way how we transmit\, store and consume music\, fueling applications like Internet streaming and downloading of music. Perceptual audio coding combines elements from digital signal processing\, coding theory\, and psychoacoustics into one system. It is\, however\, mostly the use of psychoacoustic noise shaping techniques that frequently leads to questions from non-experts (“Is this signal really intact?”) and sometimes is even perceived as some kind of “black magic” within the coder. \n\n\n\nTo educate users and listeners\, the AES Technical Committee on Coding of Audio Signals (TC-CAS) has created educational material on “Perceptual Audio Codecs – What to Listen for”. It comprises tutorial information on the principles and limitations of perceptual audio coding technologies\, as well as curated listening examples to educate and train listeners to identify possible audio coding artifacts. \n\n\n\nOriginally published as a CD-ROM in 2001\, the material has been updated in content and functionality and been released as “The Second / Web Edition” for its 20th Anniversary in 2021. After the Web Edition has initially been exclusively available as an AES membership benefit\, it is available free of charge to the general public since February 2023 for the 75th Anniversary of the AES\, by courtesy of the AES and its Technical Committee on Coding of Audio Signals. \n\n\n\nIt is a useful resource for understanding the why’s and how’s of perceptual audio codecs\, containing a taxonomy of common types of codec artifacts\, as well as tutorial information on the background of each one. Example audio signals with different degrees of impairment illustrate the nature of the artifacts and help in training listener expertise. Jürgen Herre is a fellow member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES)\, co-chair of the AES Technical Committee on Coding of Audio Signals and vice chair of the AES Technical Council. \n\n\n\nHe received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in 1989 and a Ph.D. degree for his work on error concealment of coded audio in 1995. In 1989 he joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS) in Erlangen\, Germany\, and became a co-developer of the popular mp3 (MPEG-1/2 Audio Layer 3) codec. In 1995\, he joined Bell Laboratories for a PostDoc term working on the development of MPEG-2 Advanced Audio Coding (AAC). By the end of 1996 he went back to Fraunhofer to work on the development of more advanced multimedia technology including MPEG-4\, MPEG-7\, MPEG-D\, MPEG-H and MPEG-I\, currently as the Chief Executive Scientist for the Audio/Multimedia activities at Fraunhofer IIS\, Erlangen. In September 2010\, Prof. Dr. Herre was appointed professor at the University of Erlangen and the International Audio Laboratories Erlangen. He is an expert in low bit-rate audio coding/perceptual audio coding\, spatial audio coding\, parametric audio object coding\, perceptual signal processing and audio for Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR). \n\n\n\n\n\nDr.-Ing. Sascha DickSascha Dick received his Dipl.-Ing. degree in Information and Communication Technologies from the Friedrich Alexander University (FAU) of Erlangen-Nuremberg\, Germany in 2011 with a thesis on an improved psychoacoustic model for spatial audio coding\, and joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS) in Erlangen\, Germany as a Research Engineer in the same year. He has contributed to the development and standardization of audio codecs such as MPEG-H 3D Audio. In 2017 he joined the International Audio Laboratories at FAU to research psychoacoustic effects for 3-Dimensional (3D) audio and has received a PhD degree for his thesis on “Psychoacoustic Effects and Models for Processing and Coding of 3-Dimensional Audio” in 2023. He has since joined Fraunhofer IIS again to further pursue research and development of 3D-audio applications. DESCRIPTION:FIND THE REPORT HERE.Step into a world where sound becomes an artistic masterpiece\, as Immersive Audio takes you on a mind-bending journey of auditory bliss. \n\n\n\nMSM STUDIOS BERLIN’s new 9.1.4 facility\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAES Germany Berlin\, Angelika Podola & MSM Berlin\, Stefan Bock are inviting to:Immersive Audio as its own art: \n\n\n\nMost immersive audio mixes are 3D representations of productions made for stereo. In this workshop we will discuss and demonstrate a completely different approach. The artistic impact is different\, if the artists and engineers take immersive audio as its own art. We’ll demonstrate four different projects that have started as an immersive audio production already in the phase of composing and creation. Zu sehen sind auf der tmt32 mehr als 120 Marken\, fast 90 Aussteller und mehr als 150 Kongressbeiträge. \n\n\n\nAn Stand #76 informiert die gemeinnützige AES Germany über aktuelle Projekte wie zB. die anstehende Vorstandswahl\, die freie Online Enzyklopädie Wiki.AUDIO \, Mentorship-vermittlung für Start-Ups oder den kommenden Förderpreis für kommerzielle Audio Produktionen in 3D. Auch Impulse für neue Projekte werden gerne entgegengenommen. DESCRIPTION:Auf der LEaT con trifft sich das Who is Who der Veranstaltungsbranche: ob technischer Planer\, FOH-Techniker\, Creative Designer\, Bühnenbauer – vom Azubi bis zum CEO sind alle Branchenakteure als Aussteller\, Speaker\, Guide oder einfach als Gast vor Ort. Interessant dieses Jahr ist die Zusammenlegung mit dem bereits im Süden unserer Republik etablierten jährlichen Event “Studioszene” mit vielen international besetzten Masterclasses im Bereich Musikproduktion. EIN Ticket gilt für beide Events. Oktober 2023 wird im großen Saal des Festspielhauses in Bregenz das HOLOPLOT X1 Matrix Array Soundsystem vorgestellt.Für interessierte Vereinsmitglieder bietet sich die Möglichkeit im Rahmen von 2 Demonstrationen um 10.00 Uhr oder um 14.00 Uhr sich von den Möglichkeiten des Systems ein Bild zu machen.Während der Demo wird mithilfe von 3D-Audio-Beamforming die Schallausbreitung nach Bedarf kontrolliert um damit die akustischen Herausforderungen in komplexer Architektur zu minimieren.HOLOPLOT demonstriert\, wie man softwarebasiert präzise Hörer-Zonen erstellen und anpassen kann sowie Audio-Beams berechnen kann\, die den Schall genau dorthin transportieren\, wo er benötigt wird.Darüber hinaus werden die außergewöhnlichen Möglichkeiten des Systems präsentiert\, die es erlaubt virtuelle Schallquellen sowie mehrere gleichzeitige Audio-Beams mit unterschiedlichen Audiosignalen im Raum zu platzieren.Des weiteren gibt es die Möglichkeit die Planungs- und Simulationssoftware HOLOPLOT Plan auszuprobieren. \n\n\n\nOptional bietet der Leiter der Tonabteilung\, Clemens Wannemacher\, die Möglichkeit eine kurze Führung durch das Festspielhaus und die Tribüne der Seebühne zu besuchen. \n\n\n\nWO?Festspielhaus BregenzPlatz der Wiener Symphoniker6900 BregenzWANN?Donnerstag 5.
