About

Audio Engineering Society (AES)

With over 12.000+ Members worldwide, affiliated with 90+ AES professional sections and 120+ student sections, Audio Engineering Society (AES) is the largest community of audio experts. AES is a worldwide professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. It is a platform for engineers, scientists and other individuals with an interest or involvement in the professional audio industry.

Founded in the USA in 1948, the AES is now an international non-profit organization that unites audio engineers, creative artists, scientists and students worldwide by promoting the technology and practice of audio and spreading new knowledge and research.

The membership largely comprises engineers developing devices or products for audio, and persons working in audio content production. It also includes acousticians, audiologists, academics, and those in other disciplines related to audio.

The Society develops, reviews and publishes engineering standards and technical guidelines for the audio and related media industries, and produces the AES Conventions (conference with exhibition). These Conventions are held twice a year alternating between Europe and the US. The AES and individual regional or national sections also hold international, more topic-focused AES Conferences during a year.

Furthermore, it stands for its well established library of scientific publications (papers, posters, engineering briefs), accessible free of charge to all AES members. This library consists of 20.000+ publications, which includes not only science and industry related topics but also art, music and media.

AES Germany

AES Germany is an official section of the Audio Engineering Society and it is the successor of the three previous sections:

  • AES Central German Section
  • AES North German Section
  • AES South German Section

These sections were united and formed AES Germany, which is in service since January 2022. AES Germany has an extraordinary potential with many pioneering engineers, scientists, inventors, innovators, manufacturers, educators and students under its roof. Our aim is to be an adapter for all those audio enthusiasts and bring them together to actively exchange ideas, to interact and to collaborate.
