In November 2024, AES Germany and the AES Student Section Erlangen-Nuremberg invited the »fathers« of mp3 — Karlheinz Brandenburg, Ernst Eberlein, Heinz Gerhäuser, Bernhard Grill, Jürgen Herre, and Harald Popp. They took us on a fascinating journey from the initial idea in the late 1970s to their 2000 win of the Deutscher Zukunftspreis. It was a unique insight into the history of the groundbreaking mp3 format.
